I have been looking for a way to illustrate the lines of a boat, (or individual boat details), without having to post a full colour image.

The idea is to get rid of all the extraneous background, however agreeable it might be, and concentrate on the job in hand.

This has meant playing with the effects mode in my photo manager software – (ACDSee 10).

There is an effect called ‘pencil drawing’ that is a little too lightweight. This one is ‘crayon drawing’ and has produced some pleasing results.

The “job-in-hand” here is to decide whether or not to change the ‘Blue Mistress’ font.

Blue Mistress is due to come out of the water in February for a topside repaint among other things and the name will have to be redone.
