5 – A weather series

Paihia, Bay of Islands. Time on my hands. I got interested: morning mist ‘burning off’ – sun, water, ripples, tide, little wind, and an island in the sun.

The mist burnt off quickly in the middle of the bay. There is a kite being towed in the third image.

The tide changes.

In the afternoon, the tide has come in, the sun has come round. No! The moon is moving round the earth, the earth is turning. As for the sun . . .

You would be forgiven for thinking that not a lot has happened. However, consider the forces that are acting here.
